Water Rescue Team
Our Department has a core membership of 30 Firefighter some of which also functions as First Responders. The department also has several specialized members as well. These specialized members are Water Rescue specific members, First Responder specific members and Cadets, which are a part of a program for students 13-18 years of age. The WFD also has additional instructional staff at the academy from departments from around the state.
Personnel
It is mandatory for our members to obtain Firefighter 1 within a year of appointment, and Firefighter 2 within 3 years. Emergency Medical Responder or higher must also be achieved within 1 year of appointment. Continued education is greatly encouraged, and paid for by the department with the aid of multiple grants.
